The Phantom Tollbooth interviewed me!
Remember Five Iron Frenzy? Whatever happened to Five Iron Frenzy’s Jeff the Girl? Read and learn.
Leanor Ortega Till is perhaps best known as the saxophonist for former Christian ska band Five Iron Frenzy (1995-2003). For eight years, Leanor (or “Jeff the Girl” to the Five Iron fan base) ministered to hundreds of thousands of people through music, personal conversations, and poetry.
These days, Leanor is the Art and Women’s Pastor at Scum of the Earth Church in Denver, Colorado. With a heart to serve her fellow artists, she continues to minister through music, the written word, and mentoring relationships.

“In a gazer’s eyes twilighted” by Leanor Ortega-Till
A reading from the poem, “In a gazer’s eyes twilighted.” Written when I was 17. Hope you enjoy it.
“In a gazer’s eyes twilighted”
by Leanor Ortega-Till
i am weak with reply
under dormant door mat
having eaten the carrot and orange of the day
then retreating misleading sea wispped away…
so and bye now (bye now), he did sat and sit cried
for his love, little me, never arrived
seeked the city he did and the
town courtrysided alighted by candlelight
swarming with pride
me in hay, spent the day, weak with nothingness
maybe i shouldn’t have spoke what i spake
yesterday
two apart in a two person apartment
with red red wine and a chess set to match
did the evening in anger for under stars angered
did not of forgiving but swallowed the stars
in a gazer’s eyes twilighted, morninged with hope
cold of day-air
retreats in my hair, while his Eyes in the middle of
summer(?)
do you wonder
where they are
are they there
or just where they are?
weakdays pass,
pass still more and more more
till none is the time and energy-ed pink with the
snowson if summer’s last lover
in its love with ripe apples
oranges soaked sweetly i lay underneath spring
i lay underneath and do this say just that
sit like this way
night comes i walk upward and drift me away
